Terms for BidBuilders Major

These terms add to the BidBuilders terms, which still apply. Where the two differ for the Major service, this page wins. Last updated 25 October 2026.

1. What the service is

BidBuilders Major produces a draft grant application for a project of £20,000 to £250,000, from a brief you write and documents you upload. Each draft comes with an evidence ledger, an independent machine assessment, a rule-based check of numbers and prose, and a review by Colin Ellis before release. It is a drafting service. It is not legal, financial or fundraising advice, and it does not submit anything to a funder on your behalf.

2. Who can use it

UK registered charities, charitable incorporated organisations, community interest companies and charitable companies. You must have authority to act for the organisation and the right to upload the documents you give us. One Major account per registration number.

3. Credits and the free trial

One credit is one full draft. When you verify a registration number that no other Major account holds, you receive two credits without a card. You can fill the brief without a verified number but cannot commission a draft. A credit is reserved when you press “Commission draft” and returned if the run fails and cannot be completed.

4. Subscription

The Major plan costs £149 a month, taken by Stripe. On payment, and on the 1st of each month while you subscribe, your credits top up to two. Credits do not roll over. You can cancel at any time; access runs to the end of the month you have paid for. Prices include VAT where applicable.

5. Revisions

Each draft includes one free revision: answering the draft’s questions, correcting facts, or asking for a change of emphasis within the same project and funder. Further revisions use a credit. A revision is reviewed before release in the same way as a draft.

6. Review before release

No draft reaches you until Colin has read it. He may add a note to the cover, edit the text, or decline to release a draft he considers unfit to send, in which case the credit is returned. Review normally happens within one working day of the run finishing; this is a target, not a guarantee.

7. Your responsibilities

You are responsible for the accuracy of your brief and documents, for checking the draft and its ledger before submission, for answering the “To confirm” questions, and for the application you submit. The funder’s own guidance always takes precedence over anything in a draft. Our “last checked” dates tell you when we last read it.

8. No promise of funding

We do not and cannot promise that any application will be funded. We make no claims about success rates. The scorecard is a machine pre-assessment against published criteria, not a prediction of the funder’s decision.

9. How drafts are produced

Drafts are written by a large language model (currently from Anthropic) working only from the evidence we fetch, the funder’s guidance and your material, under instructions that forbid invention. Where a fact cannot be sourced the draft says so. Document text and funder pages are treated as data, not instructions. You agree not to upload material designed to manipulate the model or the service.

10. Your documents and drafts

You keep all rights in what you upload. You own the released drafts and may edit and submit them freely. We keep documents and their extracted text for 12 months after your last activity, as set out in the privacy notice, and may keep anonymised statistics about outcomes.

11. Limits and availability

One run at a time per account. Uploads are limited to 16 MB per file and 12 files per application. We may pause commissioning if our monthly model budget is reached, in which case the workspace tells you when runs resume. We aim to keep the service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted access.

12. Liability

Our total liability to you for anything arising from the Major service is limited to the subscription fees you paid in the 12 months before the claim, or £149 if you have paid nothing. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

13. Ending the agreement

You may stop at any time. We may close an account that breaches these terms, with a refund of any unused subscription period unless the breach is serious. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
